A few days ago we reported that gsminsider had gotten a hold of some leaked information about the pricing and release dates of Huawei’s Ascend Mate 2 and P6S. The projected release date was only said to be sometime before the Chinese New Year, which is the last day of January so we knew it would be soon, we just didn’t know how soon. As of today though, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G has just launched exclusively in China, for $440. If you happen to live in the region and have an extra RMB$2688 to let go of, which is about $440 USD, you can go and pick yourself up an Ascend Mate 2 if you so choose.

The Ascend Mate 2 definitely boasts some decent specs, and has a rather large screen, measuring at 6.1 inches. The Ascend Mate 2’s IPS display has a 720p resolution so this definitely isn’t the best resolution we’ve seen on a screen, but it’ll certainly work. The 720p resolution on a screen that large could end up being a problem, however it may not look that bad. As far as power and other specs go, the Ascend Mate 2 comes with 2GB of RAM, which is pretty standard on a lot of Smartphones and Phablets these days. Another common feature, is the Ascend Mate 2’s 16GB of internal storage, which more and more manufacturers seems to be moving away from and offering up not only 16GB models of their popular handsets but 32GB models as well. If 16GB isn’t enough though, the microSD card slot should be able to help in the way of space, offering the expandable storage that some people absolutely need to make sure they have enough room for the things they want to carry around.

The battery on the Ascend Mate 2 should hold up pretty nicely, offering the Phablet 4,050mAh of juice to power the user through just about anything. The Ascend Mate 2 also comes with a 13MP rear camera, and 5MP front camera, so any photos, videos, and video chat should appear in good quality. Overall the Ascend Mate 2 looks to be a decent device, and Huawei is offering the Ascend Mate 2 in two models. One that can connect to 3G networks in the region, and one that can connect to the 4G LTE offered in the region, however it’s worth noting that the one that is on sale currently is a CDMA model and will only work inside China. Now that the Ascend Mate 2 is out, the P6S can’t be too far behind.
