Motorola had already announced that KitKat was coming to the DROID Maxx, Mini and Ultra back in December, and it started rolling out. But there appears to have been an issue with the update as Motorola and Verizon had pulled the update. Since word had spread that a handful of devices were being bricked and needing revival support from Motorola. So it’s probably good that Motorola and Verizon pulled it quickly. Although there was never no official word on why it was pulled or that it was pulled.

According to Droid Life, as of this morning, the update is rolling out yet again, and it’s the same build. Build 19.5.3, which sounds like Motorola has fixed all the issues they were experiencing with the update to KitKat. Remember that KitKat brings quite a few visual changes, like the transparent status bar. As well as getting rid of the holo-blue icons in the status bar. There’s also the new immersive mode, which is pretty awesome looking, especially when you’re listening to music or watching a movie via Chromecast. There are other new features in KitKat as well, which we’ll you explore them when you get the update.

There’s no word on how big the update is, but it’s probably a couple of hundred megabytes in size, as the Moto X’s update was around 200-250MB in size I believe. The update should be rolling out over the next few days, hopefully we’ll learn more about it soon. We’ll be crossing our fingers that no one else’s DROID Maxx, Mini or Ultra gets bricked. Since none of us have a DROID Maxx, Mini or Ultra, we’re going to ask our readers if they’ve gotten the update yet and if you’ve had any issues. As always, feel free to leave them in the comments down below. It’ll help others that may be wondering if they should take this update or wait.
