We’ve seen the leaks leading up to Sony’s next evolution in their Xperia Z smartphone line and now, here it is; the Xperia Z2. Unlike the Xperia Z1, the Z2 has actually grown a little in size to 5.2-inches, but keeps the screen resolution of 1920 x 1080, making this another Full HD device for Sony and their Xperia line. Another revamp of the Xperia Z line, can the Xperia Z2 deliver what people want in an upgrade?

With a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 Ghz and 3GB of RAM to back it up, with Android 4.4 KitKat on board, this is easily the fastest phone the Japanese manufacturer has created. Unlike other previous devices, Sony has decided to go with a 5.2-inch IPS panel with the Xperia Z2, which should deliver much deeper blacks and an overall more pleasing experience to those consuming media on their smartphones. Capable battery life has long been a staple for Sony smartphones and the 3,200 mAh battery should do the trick here.  Speaking of that display, the IPS panel that’s powered by a technology Sony is calling  Live Color LEDs should be a marked step-up from the displays used in the Xperia Z1 and the original Xperia Z.

When it comes to the overall design of the Xperia Z2, things have been kept mostly the same, but there are some subtle differences. Bezels on either side of the display have been shrunk in size and of course the device is a little longer and more narrow to accommodate the larger display. There’s a dedicated camera button here now as well, which is positioned nicely when using the device in landscape. Such an addition will no doubt please those looking to get movies on the go, thanks to the fact that the Xperia Z2 can now shoot in 4K resolution. That and the fact that the Xperia Z2 also features digital noise cancellation that can cut out up to 98% of ambient noise when recording or during a call. As well as all this however, there’s some more camera modes included, such as the ability to defocus the background and more, all available right from the camera.

The Xperia Z2 will be launching next month and hopefully, it’ll be making its way to US carriers shortly. Perhaps T-Mobile will be again picking up one of Sony’s latest smartphones?
