If you’re a Pebble smartwatch owner, than you may be happy to know about the latest update to the Pebble app that was introduced to the Play Store. The official app for the Pebble smartwatch launched last month, and already Pebble has rolled out the third major update since the apps release. The main thing with this update is bug fixes, so no new features this time around. Apparently there were a number of bugs that have been plaguing users of the smartwatch, which wasn’t making for the most enjoyable experience. While these bugs by no means made using the Pebble completely impossible, they were making it harder to do some things. However, thanks to the hardwork and dedication of the team at Pebble, the new update that rolled out today has addressed most of the major issues from these bugs that were making things more difficult.
The app update fixes a good many things, save for one lone pesky bug that just doesn’t want to go away. Let’s start with what this update fixes, so we can happily say goodbye to the bugs that have been infecting the app. First, mypebble loads even faster then before. There’s nothing wrong with speed, as long as you don’t have to forfeit any stability. It seems Pebble has found a nice balance and made mypebble work at a reasonable load time. Next, there were enhancements to the onboarding process and FW installation, making it easier to get started using your Pebble smartwatch should be a first time user. You might also notice that the javascript app logs printed via ADB are cleaner. If you like to sideload apps, the issues in some circumstances where sideloading was a problem have been fixed as well. There were also fixes for the pebblekit JS localstorage. Pebblekit JS localstorage is now sandboxed for each app, and Pebble has also fixed the problem that users were having when trying to load JS configuration views after quitting the app.
Those are some nice bug fixes that users should be happy about. The one remaining bug that seems to be hanging around is the issue with pairing the pebble smartwatch. In some cases, it might be possible that pairing the Pebble smartwatch will fail for some users when trying to pair during the onboarding process. In this case, to pair the Pebble what you would have to do is exit the Pebble app, then tell your device to “forget” the Pebble as a pairing entry, and redo the pairing process through Bluetooth settings specifically instead of through the app. If you have been experiencing some of these bugs and want to update to the latest version of the Pebble app to get rid of them, you can do so by going to the Pebble download page included here in the links below. Before you try and install the latest version of the app though,(version 11), make sure you uninstall version 10.
