Facebook Messaging App Gets Beta Treatment

One of the best parts of product launches and app openings, is the beta testing programs OEMs and developers run. They give us an opportunity to give a helping hand, as well as get a first look at products. They also give us a chance to give our opinions of apps and products, and now there is another app opening a beta program to whoever wants to join. The app is Facebook Messenger, and the beta is now open to the public. Even though Facebook has acquired Whatsapp, that hasn’t stopped them from working on their own messaging app. Though there has been a Facebook beta, it wasn’t opened for the messaging aspect. The Facebook Messenger app has seen a lot of updates towards the end of 2013, and is continuing to adapt to what users want.

In October 2013, there was the update that changed the look and inner moving parts of the app, which may have been the biggest update for some Android users. Then in November 2013, there was another UI update that also gave the updates to more users. The problem with the first update was availability. It seemed as though Facebook didn’t have enough users getting the update to satisfy the masses. This is what led to the second update in November.

The same reasons could go for why they are opening up the beta program for Android users. Facebook could be giving people the opportunity to sign up for the program, that way when future updates are tested, they can say they gave people the chance to join. Anyone who didn’t join, will not have room to complain for not getting the new update, because they had a chance to join the beta. Of course this is just speculation, the point here is that the beta is open for public registrants. However, it should be noted that being part of a beta program isn’t all benefits, in fact, it could cause more of a headache than anything else. All of the new updates will get tested, meaning if there are any bugs, you will have them, and need to report them to be fixed. This is so when they finally release the updates to the public, they won’t have too many complaints as far as bugs are concerned. So along with all the new updates you will get to see before anyone else, you will also see bugs and bad behavior that hopefully no one else will see. So if you are okay with the warnings, and still want to be a part of the beta program for Facebook and their messaging app, then feel free to sign up HERE.
