Since Android 4.4 was announced in October, not a whole lot of devices have been updated. For example, we’ve seen Kit Kat on the Moto X and Moto G, the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and the Galaxy S 4 on Sprint. While LG didn’t update the G2 as quickly as Motorola updated their devices, they’re still doing pretty well on the update schedule.

We recently saw the LG G2 on AT&T receiving the Kit Kat update. The T-Mobile LG G2 is going to have quite a few updates with the Kit Kat OTA that is starting today. We’re expecting to see updates to auto brightness, as well as Android 4.4.2 and some other “user experience improvements”. The 4.4.2 update was originally only available over the computer using LG’s Mobile Support Tool. This meant that you had to plug the phone into the computer, be sure that the drivers were installed properly and then download the update and install it on your G2. While this process wasn’t too hard to begin with, it can be made easier with an over-the-air update. OTA’s mean that there’s no plugging in the phone to the computer, and there’s really no work required on the users end.

The LG G2 is a unique device. With the buttons moved from the sides of the phone to the back of the phone, and a practically bezel-less front, the G2 immediately grabbed the attention of many consumers. Not to mention the device has an awesome 13-megapixel camera and some very useful features, like Q Slide and Slide Away. Consumers also like the G2 because it has great battery life, it’s a quad-core device and the screen looks amazing. On top of the G2’s great specs, LG is also giving consumers the newest Android version pretty quickly.

This is good news for consumers because some companies (looking at you, Sony), haven’t even updated some of their devices to 4.3, yet. The LG G2 was announced in August and released in September, about a month before Kit Kat was announced by Google. I’d say that LG is doing a pretty good job keeping their flagship updated, especially when each Android update comes with some pretty useful fixes and features. It’s good to see manufacturers make updates a priority. Currently AT&T and T-Mobile’s G2’s have the Kit Kat update. Now LG has Sprint and Verizon left to update, so let’s see if they can keep up with the quick updates.
