ZTE has recently revealed that they plan to sell 60 million devices globally this year. Apparently to meet that aim, ZTE is now giving attention to a segment of premium devices, which were missing from the Chinese manufacturer’s repertoire last year. As a result, we see ZTE working hard on premium high spec’d devices which comprise the ZTE Nubia series. The latest smartphone in the series – the ZTE Nubia X6 – was officially launched in Beijing. It turns out that the Nubia X6 has carried off better specs than those being suggested in earlier rumors, and may even give the recently launched HTC flagship – the HTC One (M8) a run for its money.
The ZTE Nubia X6 sports a massive 6.44 inch display offering a full-HD 1080p resolution with a resultant 344 pixels per inch (ppi) density. Though 1080p is a sufficiently high-resolution, earlier rumors had suggested a qHD or 2K display. The screen size is massive and similar to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The ZTE Nubia X6 comes powered by the latest quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz; however we have news that a second variant of the device is expected which will boast of a similar processor (MSM8974AC), though it would be clocked at 2.5 GHz. An ample 3 GB of RAM is available for multitasking with internal storage for the base model packed at 32 GB. Another model with 128 GB internal storage is also announced, however there is no information regarding a MicroSD slot.
During the HTC One (M8) launch, the Taiwanese manufacturer had emphasized their focus on delivering a great ‘selfie’ experience. In our view, the ZTE Nubia X6 has the hardware to beat the HTC One (M8) in that department. The Nubia X6 boasts of a 13 mega pixels (MP) primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) on the back, while a 13 MP front-facing camera (without OIS) on the front would definitely rock with any selfie. However we would still need to get our hands on a unit to claim how good or bad the 13 MP front-facing camera performs. The device is powered by a whopping 4250 mAh battery.
The Nubia X6 boasts of dual SIM capabilities, with 3G and LTE capabilities for each SIM. The regular connectivity features – dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and USB 3.0 with OTG support are available. Active noise cancellation is achieved by the three mics on the device, which would also support with distortion free voice recordings in videos. All of these amazing features are packed in a 7.9 mm slim metal body. Pricing of the device, as revealed, is CNY 3,000 ($485) for the32 GB, CNY 3500 ($565) for a 64 GB and CNY 4000 ($645) for the 128 GB variants. Presently there is no clarity as to when, and if, the ZTE Nubia X6 would launch in the Western world. We can only hope and keep our fingers crossed.
