Ever since word got out that the folks over at the National Security Agency has been spying on us via our phones, security has been a pretty big concern for most if not all smartphone users.  The folks over at Silent Circle are with the rest of us, and have actually developed an Android device that is the most secure Android smartphone out there.  This device has all the encryption that you could want in a phone.

There is a lot of demand out there for a device of this nature. So much demand that the company has now raised a $30 Million round. This round was led by Ross Perot Jr. and Cain Capital. Perot Jr. will be joining the company’s board of directors and Silent Circle will be using this funding to help further accelerate its rapid growth and momentum dominating the secure communications market. This will also help Silent Circle be able to meet the demand for the BlackPhone.

“Today’s announcements mark tremendous momentum in our goal of delivering secure and private communications on a global scale,” Silent Circle CEO Mike Janke said. “Awareness of global privacy threats is irrevocably affecting individuals’ and businesses’ behavior and driving worldwide demand for Silent Circle’s unmatched secure communication technology, calling plans and Blackphone devices. With a customer base including consumers in over 130 countries, 23 of the global Fortune 50 enterprises and governments from 11 nations – we now have the resources to meet the demand for our encrypted mobile voice, video, secure file transfer and international secure calling plans – all available for iOS and Android.”

This is great news for the Blackphone. It will help the newcomer Android device gain some extra movement and help it become more popular. The folks over at Silent Circle will also be relocating their headquarters from the Caribbean island of Nevis to Switzerland, and will have offices outside Washington, D.C. and in London, with data centers in Canada and Switzerland.  Hopefully the folks over at Silent Circle will see some more great success.
