Google Voice Search Can Now Feed You Information On Your Car Rental Reservations

Following the announcement earlier that Google Now finally lets users complete the task of setting reminders entirely with voice commands, Google Search gets an update with a new feature to let you keep up to speed on your car rental bookings/reservations with the voice search function. This sounds like it could be useful with Uber given the recent tie ins to the Uber application, which recently got a bump from Google Maps showing you the nearest locations where Uber Cars can be used for pickup. At least that would make a whole lot of sense but since you don’t really rent those vehicles it likely won’t have any integration here.

It seems that no matter where you might have a car rental booking from, as long as you use your Gmail account for the service when you place your rental, Google Search can pop up a Google Now card when you ask it about your rentals and reservations. This is one of many quick and easy little functions you can ask Google Search about that have come up in the past few months. Google has relentlessly been adding new features to the Search app for use with voice. While the voice search function on phones, tablets, Chrome, and Chromebooks is great, it really seems like all the new search functions will feel right at home on Android Wear devices.

Now with this new search feature, any time you’re traveling and book a ride during your trip, you can simply open up Google Search or Google Now and say “OK Google” or tap on the mic button, then just ask Google “where is my rental car reservation?” and it’ll feed you back a Google Now card with the appropriate information, which includes the service you rented the car from, the type of vehicle you rented, the pickup and drop off dates you have for the vehicle, the location, your booking number, and of course your name. That last one should be a given. Google posted this to their Twitter account earlier so this feature should be live now, although it’s possible that it might require an app update for Google Search like with previous new feature adds. Anyone renting any cars for this weekend?
