We always love more cloud storage, that’s free, right? Well Microsoft’s recently rebranded cloud storage solution, OneDrive, has just up’d it’s free storage from 7GB to 15GB. And those of you with Office 365 will get 1TB, which is a ton of space. Now here in the Android world, we don’t use OneDrive as much as Dropbox or Google Drive, because it doesn’t integrate as much as those two services do. But if you are using a Windows computer or tablet, or even a Windows Phone, OneDrive integrates really well with it, and it’s something you’ll want to try. I mean it’s free, so why not?
Those on Office 365 Home, Personal, and University will be getting 1TB for free. The prices for those plans are $6.99/month for the personal, home is $9.99/month and University is $74.99 for four years. Prices for OneDrive upgrades for those that don’t use Office 365 are $7.49 per month OneDrive’s 100GB level now has a monthly cost of $1.99. If you want 200GB its now $3.99 per month, down from $11.49. Compared to 100GB for $1.99/month and then 1TB for $9.99/month for Google Drive.
These are some pretty good price decreases for those that do use OneDrive religiously. Since I don’t really use any Microsoft products, this isn’t a big deal to me. But it is nice to see more competition in the world of cloud storage solutions. So far Google still has the rights to the cheapest cloud storage, but the others are catching up, quickly. Google Drive especially wins since Google Docs don’t count towards your quota which is something I really like about Google Drive compared to others.
