Yesterday, during IFA 2014 in Berlin, Sony announced their new Xperia Z3 series including the new 5.2-inch Xperia Z3 as well as a new, smaller tablet and a follow-up to the Xperia Z1 Compact, the Z3 Compact. All-in-all, Sony’s announcements weren’t the most exciting that we’ve heard from the company over the last few years, but it did introduce us to some new devices with a slightly tweaked design and yet more power under the hood. What’s more important for Sony however, is not the specs of the new devices, but that the Xperia Z3 is actually hitting the US in a timely fashion, that is if you’re a T-Mobile customer.

T-Mobile and Sony have gotten friendly over the past year or so releasing the Xperia Z1 S exclusively on T-Mobile later this year. While that’s great news for Sony fans as well as T-Mobile customers, it’s not so good for the rest of the nation. That is however, until we consider that a Verizon version of the Xperia Z3 might also be on its way. PC Mag is reporting that they’ve been sent some documents of what looks to be a Z3 with a Verizon logo on the rear of the device and a screenshot that shows the Amazon App Store pre-installed, a hallmark of Verizon’s Android devices. According to PC Mag, the device features 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and presumably the same sort of specs as the Xperia Z3 headed to T-Mobile.

This sounds great and all, but I have to wonder just why PC Mag didn’t reproduce said documents they were sent. As of right now, this is a rumor that you should take some salt, but Sony have been getting their act together when it comes to North American mobile releases. Verizon recently got their hands on the Xperia Tablet Z2 and that relationship could be paving the way for the Xperia Z3 series, but without any evidence, it’s hard to think of this as anything more than a rumor, sadly.
