Samsung unveiled its Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet many of you have been waiting for at their IFA event in Berlin. Alongside the Note 4, Samsung did showcase a few other devices as well, amongst which is the Galaxy Note Edge. We’ve seen its curved display leaked before but very few people actually though Samsung will announce it at IFA. So, let’s take a look at its specs.

Galaxy Note Edge is sporting a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz. There’s 3GB of RAM inside for all your multitasking needs and also 32 or 64GB (depending on the model) of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 64GB). 16-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera can be found on the back of the device while there’s a 3.7-megapixel camera on the front of the device. 3000mAh battery is also part of the package as well as Android 4.4.4 Kitkat. 151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3mm are the dimensions of the device and it weights 174g.

The device supports LTE cat 6 bands, just like the Note 4. It supports the following bands 2.5G (GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE) : 850/900/1800/1900 MHz; 3G (HSPA+ 42Mbps): 850/900/1900/2100 MHz; 4G (LTE Cat 4 150/50Mbps) or 4G (LTE Cat 6 300/50Mbps).

As far as software goes, Galaxy Note Edge features the same sort of software as the Note 4, it even has its own S-Pen and belonging features. Though it has that curved bar which carries its own functions, like play and pause functions when you watch a movie or something like that while it also shows your notifications and weather for example. There’s lots of functionality packed into that edge. UI itself is called “Revolving UX” and there’s lots of stuff bundled in there, Multi Window, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Voice Recorder (Normal Mode, Interview Mode, Meeting Mode, Voice Memo), Download booster, S Health 3.5, Dynamic Lock Screen and Briefing. There are also a ton of S Pen features included just like in the Galaxy Note 4, Air Command, Action Memo, Screen Write, Image Clip, Smart Select, S Note, Snap Note and Direct Pen Input. Google’s services are also included of course.

There’s no doubt Galaxy Note Edge is sort of a test product for Samsung to see how will consumers react to the new functionality that edge brings with it. Though we shouldn’t forget this also has all the Note 4’s functionality as well, including the S Pen ones. Any chance this device appeals to you?
