Just a little while ago we published a story about Sony launching the diminutive yet powerful Xperia Z3 Compact in India for Rs. 44,990 ($736), and here we have its fuller-figured sibling, the Xperia Z3 appearing on the Sony website. It’s believed to become available for purchase later today, although you are only able to pre-register your interest in the Xperia Z3 at the moment.

The Xperia Z3 is Sony’s latest flagship smart phone, and as such it carries a premium price, Rs. 51,990 ($851) to be exact. It’s a hefty chunk of cash, so what will you be getting for your money? Much like the Z2 before it, the Xperia Z3 has a 5.2-inch Triluminos Full HD display and sports a 20.7MP camera Exmor RS image sensor. The Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core CPU is clocked at 2.5GHz and has the Adreno 330 GPU providing the graphics. There is 3GB of RAM on multi-tasking duty with 16GB of internal storage that can be augmented via the included Micro-SD card slot by up to 128GB.

Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, the Xperia Z3 complies with the IP65 and IP68 Ingress Protection ratings. This means the Z3 is dust tight as well as being able to be submerged in fresh water for up to 30 minutes if the Micro-USB, Micro-SIM and Micro-SD slots are fully covered. Another neat feature of the Z3 is its ability to connect remotely to your PS4 gaming console via your home WiFi connection. Called PS Remote Play, it allows you to use your Z3 smart phone to carry on playing the PS4 game in a different room, away from the console.

Connectivity wise, the Xperia Z3 supports the TD-LTE band 40 for Indian networks. Although LTE can be quite patchy in India presently, its always good to know that the ability to connect to a faster network is there for when LTE becomes more widely available.

If you are a fan of Sony Xperia smart phones, you may have noticed that the Xperia Z3 is much rounder than it’s predecessors. By reducing the squareness of the Z3, it is said to be much easier to hold, without the square edges digging into the hand. Whether this makes the Z3 more or less attractive is entirely subjective. The Sony Xperia Z3 will be available in Black, White and Copper variations for Rs. 51990 ($851). Is this the phone you’ve been waiting for? Let us know at our Google Plus page.
