It would seem that the latest generation of Sony’s Xperia Z line-up are available to buy or pre-order at what appears to be bargain prices. It was just a few hours ago that we ran a story detailing how you can buy the Sony Z3 Compact smart phone for as little as £349 ($567) from Clove Technology in the UK, which isn’t a bad deal at all considering the level of hardware it has. Now we have news that the UK retailer Carphone Warehouse (CPW) is offering the fuller-figured Z3 at the surprising price of £429.95 ($699).
Yes, you did read that correctly. Sony’s latest Android flagship phone is available to pre-order for under £430. It’s a saving of over £100 ($162) when compared to what Amazon.co.uk and Sony’s Mobile Store are charging. And when you consider that it’s older brother is priced at £519 ($843) at CPW, its a mammoth saving, and one that is quite frankly jaw-droppingly good.
Sony may have come in for some criticism over the Xperia Z3 since its launch because of a perceived lack of change from it’s older sibling the Z2, but that doesn’t mean its a bad phone. It has a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display, it’s powered by the Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor, with the Adreno 330 GPU providing the graphics. There’s 3GB of RAM to take care of multi-tasking and the usual 16GB of internal storage that can be supplemented by up to 128GB via the included Micro-SD card slot. There is still a 20.7MP camera on the rear, with a 2.2MP camera on selfie duty. And of course, the Z3 is IP65 and IP68 compliant; meaning that the handset is dust-tight and can be submerged in fresh water for up to 30 minutes providing that all ports and flaps are firmly closed. It’s biggest change is its styling, appearing a little more rounded, if ever so slightly more chunky the Z2. For the price that CPW are offering it, the Z3 is only £30 more than what CPW are selling the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini for, and its one heck of a leap in hardware over it.
