Google Fiber has been a long time coming, but that doesn’t mean it is not on its way. Google’s own high speed internet has been in the works for a long time. Although its progress has been slow, it is making moves with limited access being offered in Kansas City, Austin in Texas and Provo in Utah. It now seems Kansas City is about to get another Fiber upgrade. Until now, Google Fiber has only been offered to limited neighborhoods or ‘fiberhoods’ as Google likes to call them. More to the point these services were previously only offered for personal use. The news today is that small businesses will now be able to take advantage of Fiber.

Google announced via their Fiber blog that small businesses in the Kansas City area can enrol to be part of the Early Access to the ‘Google Fiber for Small Business’ program. It is worth noting, like the personal service already rolling out, this is also a limited service. As such not all areas in Kansas City will be covered and in fact the regions available are few and far between. If you are a business in either Kansas City, KS or Kansas City, MO then you can click here to see the areas currently covered. So what do you get? Well, like the personal service, Google Fiber for Small Business offers 1GB internet speeds. However, unlike the personal service which is priced as $70 a month, the business internet will set you back $100 per month. In addition to the 1GB upload and download speeds, business owners will also get dedicated technical support via phone, email and chat. They will also benefit from the $100 price guaranteed for the first year. Lastly, as a reward for joining the early access, it seems Google are waiving the construction fee too. If you are interested in a static IP addresses. Then these are optional and can be tagged on to the $100 fee at the rate of one static IP for $20 per month or five static IP addresses for $30 per month.

So are you a small business in the Kansas City Area? Does your business fall into one of the currently supported fiberhoods? Will you be enrolling in for Google Fiber Early Access? More widely what do you think of Google’s take on super fast internet?
