It isn’t too long since Huawei launched their Honor 6 smart phone in the UK offering high-end hardware for just £249, and now they’ve announced the launch of another handset, the Honor 3C. This time, Huawei are going after the budget section of the UK smart phone market, although the specs on offer are still pretty decent considering the £110 ($172) price tag.
What exactly are you going to get for your money? There’s a 5-inch TFT display with a 1280 x 720 resolution, and the handset is powered by a MediaTek MT6582 processor that consists of four cores running at 1.3GHz. Graphics are provided by the Mali-400MP GPU, and surprisingly for a budget device, 2GB of RAM is on tap for multi-tasking duties. The usual 8GB of internal storage is included, although you can extend this by up to 64GB thanks to Micro-SD card slot. The Honor 3C weighs in at 140 grams, with dimensions of 139.5 x 71.4 x 9.2mm, so its not the slimmest device in the world, but its still very pocketable. The battery has a capacity of 2,300mAhwhich should see you through day with normal usage.
The front-facing camera offers the ability to take hi-res selfies thanks to the 5MP sensor, on the rear there is an 8MP camera with auto-focus and flash. The Honor 3C supports Dual-SIM’s of the micro variety, can be used in WCDMA + GSM or TD-SCDMA + GSM configurations. The usual Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and GPS connectivity are supported, as well as USB 2.0.
The Honor 3C is running Android version 4.2, so not the latest and greatest version of our beloved Android OS by any means.But, the customised overlay is fairly tasteful compared to some that are openly mocked, I’m not mentioning any names, but your guess probably isn’t a galaxy away if you know what I mean.
So, other than the tired version of Android that its running out of the box, the Honor 3C would appear to be somewhat of a bargain.
