Just because Micromax is a partner in Google’s Android One initiative, it doesn’t mean that its a ‘one for all and all for one’ scenario with its fellow partners. Android One handsets aren’t enjoying huge sales, with some local retailers refusing outright to stock them at all. Micromax’s latest budget handset, the Bolt Ad4500, is available to purchase from eBay and from its price of Rs. 5,290 ($86) it would appear to have its Android One brethren firmly in its sights.

Let’s have a look at what that Rs. 5,290 will get you. The display is a 4.5-inch IPS affair with an 854 x 480 resolution, and you may have noticed the dual front-facing speakers above and below the screen. Something else you may have noticed are the media control buttons just below the 3 capacitative navigation buttons. A Dual-Core processor clocked at 1.3GHz powers the Bolt Ad4500, with 512MB RAM available for multi-tasking. Just 4GB of internal storage is available, although you can augment this by up to 32GB thanks to the included Micro-SD card slot. The front-facing camera is just 0.3MP, while there is a 5MP sensor and LED flash on the rear. The usual 3.5mm audio jack is present on the top of the device. Connectivity consists of support for the usual WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 functions, and rounding things off is the 2,000mAh battery. As is usual with smart phones in the Indian market, the Bolt Ad4500 has Dual-SIM support, though it appears that it doesn’t offer 3G connectivity, only GSM (2G or EDGE). The Bolt AD4500 comes with Android 4.4.2 out of the box, which should help to make the most out of the 512MB RAM it carries.

As previously stated, the Micromax Bolt Ad4500 is selling for Rs. 5,290 on eBayalthough the MRP is Rs. 6,599 ($106). When the Micromax is officially launched, it will be available in white, red and blue. What do you think about the Bolt AD4500, does it offer value for money when pitted against its rivals? Is there any reason to choose the Bolt AD4500 over an Android One handset? If there is, be sure to let us know in the comments or at our Google Plus page.
