Its been a busy old couple of weeks for Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Since its release at the start of November, there has been an ongoing release of OTA updates to the various Nexus devices. As well as a couple of Motorola ones. With Nexus in particular, Google always follow up with releasing the factory image to the Google Developers site. This allows for those to get an actual copy of the update. If your particular device has not received the OTA then with the Factory Image you can sideload the update yourself. Before today, virtually all of the Nexus devices had their factory images uploaded. this included the Nexus 4, 5, 7, 9 and Nexus 10. Even the Nexus Player factory image had also been released. The only one notably missing from that list was Google’s Nexus 6.
Well, that has now been rectified. Google has today uploaded the factory image of Android 5.0 (Lollipop) for the Nexus 6. This is the first factory image for the newbie device and goes by the release number LRX21O. This effectively completes the Lollipop nexus factory image line-up. Whether of course, this will be the last one for now is not so clear. If you have been following the news then you will know that the recently released Nexus 9 has already undergone a few updates to its factory image. These were largely to accommodate issues users were having with their Nexus 9 devices. In fact, the latest Nexus 9 updated factory image was only released by Google yesterday. Therefore, once the Nexus 6 actually reaches people, we will get to find out what (if anything) is wrong with the current firmware.
This will decide how quickly the next update to the factory image will be That said, the Nexus 6 factory image is here and ready for you to download.
