Here we have the Ellipsis 8 Android tablet, which has just been noticed on Verizon’s website. As you can probably guess, it runs in a similar vein to its 7-inch predecessor that Verizon launched last year, meaning that its aiming for the budget conscious customer. The Ellipsis 8 tablet is priced at $249 without a plan, or you can choose to take the tablet on a 2 year plan with a $149 payment upfront.
Let see just what you are getting for your money though. As the name suggests, the Ellipsis 8 has an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and 189ppi (pixels-per-inch). The grunt is provided by a Quad-Core processor that is clocked at 1.5GHz, at present its unknown who manufacturer the CPU, but I would wager that it supplied by MediaTek. The spec sheet is also coy on just how much RAM is included as well as how much internal storage there is, although the user manual says there is 16GB available. The Ellipsis 8 does support Micro-SD cards as well. The tablet weighs in at 12.07 oz, and is 8.1 inches tall, with a width of 4.9 inches. On the rear of the tablet is a 5MP camera, with a front-facing camera of unknown specification on selfie and video chat duty. The non-removable battery is possibly the one outstanding feature on the Ellipsis 8, with a capacity of 5000mAh, it should be more than enough to get through the day with normal usage.
The Ellipsis 8 has a SIM-card slot and is XLTE ready (B13/B4), meaning that it is compatible with Verizon’s doubling of its LTE bandwidth. Having SIM support on a tablet is always useful, because you don’t have to rely on WiFi Hotspots or tethering from a smart phone all the time when you are out and about. In the box you will find the Ellipsis 8 tablet, the wall charger and data cable, along with the usual quick start guide and warranty brochure.
