It is finally happening, the YouTube music streaming service that has been rumored for months and months is finally beginning to hit users. Last week Google announced the service officially, calling it YouTube Music Key and allowed users to sign up in order to get access to the beta. Now, we are getting reports that some users today are finally being invited to participate in the beta of YouTube Music Key.

What YouTube Music key allows you to do is watch all of your favorite music videos on YouTube completely ad-free. On top of this, the service also allows you to play music videos in the background as well as download them for playback when your device does not have an internet connection. All of this will cost you $9.99 a month or, if you are already a Google Play Music subscriber, you get it for no extra charge. If this sounds like something you want to get in on then be sure to head here and sign up for a chance to participate in the YouTube Music Key beta.

Once you do actually get invited to take part in the beta, this is the new stuff that you will notice in the YouTube app. First off, make sure that you are running the latest YouTube app, once you do that you will see the new YouTube Music Key functionality kick in. The first thing that you’re probably going to take notice of is the little blue box in the description area of music videos that will say “Ad-free”, this obviously means that music videos you watch will contain no ads. Next, to the right of the like and dislike buttons, you will see a new download button, clicking this will allow you to download the current video so that you can play it later when you might not have an internet connection.

So, we know there is a question all of you are dying for us to answer, how will you actually receive the invite to YouTube Music Key beta? The answer to that is, when you open up the YouTube app and switch to the Music tab, if you have been invited, you will see a card at the top asking you to try the service for free. If you haven’t been invited then this card will not show up for you. As of now there really doesn’t seem to be any specific way or order that YouTube is inviting users, it all seems completely random based on the users who say they have been invited. If you have been lucky enough to have already been invited to try out the YouTube Music Key beta let us know. And if you did get invited, are you currently subscribed to Google Play Music All Access?
