Acer doesn’t quite have the marketing power or reach of the big Android manufacturers such as Samsung or Sony yet, but they do produce some quality budget handsets. And it seems they are gaining more confidence in their products, with their announcement that they are launching their Liquid E700 phone in the Caribbean. The Acer Liquid E700 will be sold via the Digicel stores in Bermuda, Jamaica as well as the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Let’s take a look at what is under the hood. The Acer Liquid E700 uses a MediaTek Quad-Core processor and has 2GB of RAM for app-switching purposes, with graphics being provided by the Mali-400MP2 GPU. There’s a 5-inch IPS display with a 720 x 1280 resolution and 294 ppi, featuring Zero Air Gap technology that minimises the distance between the touch and display modules. There might only be 4GB of internal storage as standard, but that can be augmented by up to 32GB thanks to the included Micro-SD card slot. The Liquid E700 weighs in at 155 grams with dimensions of 147.3 x 73 x 9.9mm, so its a tiny bit longer, a little wider and 1,8mm thicker than a Galaxy S5. There’s also a massive 3,500mAh battery that should get even the heaviest user through the day comfortably. Acer says the Liquid E700 can handle 12 hours of video, 100 hours of music playback, or up to 60 days in standby mode. Impressive stuff.

The Liquid E700 has a couple of unusual features, one of which is the 2MP front-facing camera with LED flash to make those selfies brighter. The rear panel sports an 8MP camera with LED flash that is capable of recording video in 1080p. As you can tell from the images, the Liquid E700 also boasts stereo speakers, with a speaker below and above the display delivery DTS Studio Sound quality.

Connectivity wise, the Liquid E700 supports WiFi bands a/b/g/n, as well as Bluetooth 4.0. This is where we come to another unusual feature, the Liquid E700 has been endowed not with Dual-SIM capability, but with TRIPLE-SIM functionality. Acer says that this should eliminate the need for multiple stores, and that it should prove ideal for professional users.

The Acer Liquid E700 is said to be available at Digicel Stores in Bermuda, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos at an affordable price, although no specific details on price were available at this time. Does the Acer Liquid E700 appeal to you? Can you see the benefit of having a front-facing LED flash and the Triple-SIM functionality? And just how affordable should it be?
