If you’re an avid user of Google’s office like offerings such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides, then you’ll be happy to know that Google is updating those apps with some new features and improvements to better your daily user experience with them. The updates for the Android version of these apps are following behind last week’s updates for the iOS versions, bringing in features like the new line spacing controls for Google Docs. These changes are not so monumental that they should immediately draw your attention from whatever else you’re doing at the moment, like perhaps the Material Design UI update that happened not too long ago, but they are worth paying attention to.
The new line spacing options within Google Docs allows you to now choose between single, double, or fractional line spacing so you can make whatever you’re typing up in Docs look perfect with the right amount of space between each paragraph. Within Google Sheets, you’ll notice a new feature to scroll faster up and down pages thanks to the new scroll-bar within the app, and lastly, Google Slides has an option that allows users to insert, move, resize and rotate text boxes, shapes and lines giving you better control of the content within your slideshows. Whether or not you use one or all of these apps on a daily or minimal basis, the changes should be a welcomed addition to the tools that were already at our disposal within these applications.
Google also states that there are more improved accessibility options within all three applications alongside being more friendly with office files and a simpler task of file creation. All three apps are available to download from the Play Store for free, all you need is a Google account to use them. With Docs, Sheets, and Slides now easier to use while providing an overall better experience due to small incremental changes, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Google pick some increases in user base for all three apps.
