If you have not checked the calendar yet then you might want to know that it is Wednesday. This can only mean one thing, Google is on their weekly update extravaganza. We have already seen an update rolling out to Hangouts which interestingly, improves the way contact information is displayed. The update makes contact cards appear far more integrated with Google+ information, such as recent posts, photos and adds missing contact details. Well, as per usual with a Wednesday, this was not the only Google product getting an update.

Next on the list is Google Drive and this one contains two notable features improvements. The first is a little more basic and more presentation than anything, but still worth a quick mention. If you are using Drive app on an Android 5.0 (Lollipop) running device, then the top status bar will now be more visibly integrated with the side pull out menu, once pulled out. In short, the side menu at the top will look more naturally invisible.

The second feature is certainly more functional than presentation-based and adds a feature that those who used Drive a lot, have probably been hoping for. Prior to the update. moving files was a bit of a tedious experience and required a decent enough level of fingerwork. The new update brings with it the ability to simply drag and drop files. Not to mention, multiple files can be dragged and dropped together. To take advantage of the feature, you simply hold down on any file in Drive and then the file will automatically move to the bottom of the screen, as a highlighted selection. Following this, you can add more files just by clicking on them. Once you have all the files you want to move then you can simply grab them and drag them to the folder you want to move them to. Nice and easy. As always, the update is in progress and will roll out to all devices in due course. So don’t worry too much if you have yet to see it land. Of course, you can always grab an updated version from the Play Store. Once you have seen the update let us know what you think of the new drag and drop feature.
