Now that Google has two main email clients on the go in the form of Gmail and Inbox by Gmail, you can expect twice as many email update posts making their way out. This is exactly what is happening this week. Yesterday saw the news coming in that Gmail had received a rather significant update. Not much changed in the appearance of the app with this update. However, a very significant function was included which allows users to make use of a unified inbox where all their emails (regardless of client like Yahoo, Outlook, Gmail etc) all appear in one singular inbox.

Well, it looks like today’s update news is designed for users of Inbox by Gmail and in particular, those who make use of the snooze feature for emails. For those yet to use the snooze feature in Inbox, this essentially is the ability to instruct emails to come back at a later time. Until now though, snoozing an email meant you had to choose between rather vague sections of the day like “morning”, “afternoon” or “evening”. With the latest update, if you set an email to snooze until morning, you will be able to specifically set a time. Essentially, advising Inbox what time you consider to be ‘morning’. As an extension of this, once you first set a time to represent morning, Inbox will then offer the option to set this time as ‘morning’, for all other emails you also snooze until ‘morning’. If your idea of morning changes again, you will be able to access a settings menu which again lets you to change the definition of ‘morning’, ‘afternoon’ or ‘evening’.

According to the Google announcement post (source link below) the ability to use custom snoozes was one of the most requested features by users and represents how we do not all define morning in the same way. The update will also see the addition of an easier route to accessing your contacts list from the web version of Inbox. If you would like to read more about the new snoozing of emails you can read the full blog post listing by clicking the source link below. In terms of the actual update, Google notes it will begin rolling out today.
