Much like you see on HTC’s One series of devices with the Blinkfeed news and reader home page, Samsung has their own version of this on the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models, with a home page just to the left of the main home screen called Briefing. Briefing is powered by Flipboard, a popular news reader and social feed application which has been pre-installed on Samsung devices for a while, and if you power on your device and swipe all the way to the left you’ll find the Briefing home page which lets you access all your news and feeds right from the home screen.
This feature comes enabled by default which in most cases might not bother anyone, but if you have a particular app or reader you prefer to use then you may not want Briefing on. How do you disable it? It’s actually pretty simple to do, and it’s all done right from the home screen, no messing around in menus or settings trying to find that hidden feature. When on the home screen, simply long press. In doing this you’ll be able to do a range of different things including swap out the wallpaper, add new widgets, change the theme and even add new homescreen pages if you like.
After you long press on the homescreen swipe all the way to the left where you accessed Briefing in the first place, and you’ll see a little tick box at the top of the screen you can uncheck. By doing this you will be disabling Briefing and essentially removing it from the homescreen, and you can either leave the main homepage as the left-most screen or you can add more pages and organize everything in any order you wish. If you ever want to re-enable Briefing it’s just as simple as it was to turn it off. Long press, check box, enjoy.
