Oppo has already revealed that their R7 handset will launch in May, but we didn’t know when. Earlier today, a rumor surfaced saying the phone will land on May 20, and it seems that rumors were spot on. Oppo’s invitations started popping up in China confirming the content of the previously released rumor, you can check out the invitation itself in the gallery down below. We’ve already seen a ton of info regarding Oppo’s upcoming device, including real life images of the phone, as well as a couple of video clips. This handset will feature premium build (metal + glass) and three capacitive buttons below the display, though a separate version sporting a physical home button is also quite possible.

This isn’t the only piece of news we have for you though, this China-based company has actually confirmed that Oppo R7 will sport a metal unibody design via their official Weibo (Chinese social network) account. If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll see the image teaser yourself. We also know that the phone will feature the 2.5D curved glass on top of the display itself which actually has a quite neat function. Initially, we thought that Oppo R7 won’t sport any bezel on the sides, even a video clip confirmed that. That’s not the case though, another video clip popped up along with a bunch of images explaining the whole situation. The curved glass on top of the display actually reflects light and makes it look like the phone is bezel-less, and it’s not, there are very thin side bezels included in this package.

The Oppo R7 was certified by TENAA a couple of days ago and revealed its spec sheet. The phone will sport a 5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). There will actually be two variants of this device, one will be powered by the Snapdragon 615 SoC, and the other one by MediaTek’s MT 6752 chip. We presume that the Snapdragon variant will launch outside of Asia, and the MediaTek model will be Asia exclusive. This phone will also sport a 13-megapixel camera on the back (along with an LED flash), while the 8-megapixel shooter will sit on the front side of the device. The Oppo R7 will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat pre-installed with the company’s Color OS on top of Google’s operating system, and 4G LTE will also be a part of this package.
