Android TV has been available for awhile now. That said, the availability is still extremely limited for the new platform. In fact, up until very recently, it was only the Nexus Player that was commercially available to the public as an Android TV functional device. The lack of availability does seem to be changing quite significantly much more recently though. In particular, last month saw the arrival of multiple reports that newer and alternative Android TV devices were en route. Some of these were coming in the form of Sony TV’s with inbuilt Android TV while other reports were confirming that the first major Android TV offering from Razer was being made available to pre-order.

In terms of the latter of these options, Razer’s Forge TV is certainly one of the more popular option for those who want a more gamer oriented experience as well as Android TV functionality. In fact, on paper, the specs of the Razer Forge TV offer a much better all round product for those interested in the new platform. Not to mention, there is not exactly a massive difference in price between the two, with the Forge TV bundle version coming in quite close to the cost of the Nexus Player along with the GamePad. Well, for those that were holding out for the Forge TV, the pre-orders did go live last month and users have already started receiving their devices.

However, it seems all might not be as plain sailing with the latest Android TV device as first thought. Reports are now emerging from users who have received their device that it does not come with Netflix pre-installed. In fact, the problem seems to be far more fundamental with the Forge TV currently not supporting Netflix at all. What makes it worse, it that the reports seem to suggest that sideloaded versions of Netflix also do not work, with the only notable exception being the mobile version of the app. For those that are wondering, it does seem that Razer are fully aware of this and it is not a bug. Instead, the company has reportedly responding to customer questions by advising that are looking into how to integrate the feature in future.
