Today, there has already been a number of Android 5.x (Lollipop) announcements coming down the wire. These mainly consisted of Nexus devices receiving their update to Android 5.1.1. The latest version of the latest android operating system. The Nexus devices announced today include the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 9. That said, those waiting on their initial Android 5.x (Lollipop) update are probably starting to wonder when their update will actually come. For instance, it was also this morning that the news broke that the DROID Turbo is expected to get its update sometime around mid-June. Well, like the DROID Turbo, another device now seems to be confirmed to be receiving Lollipop, Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. However, unlike the DROID Turbo, this device looks set to start receiving its Lollipop update from today.
In fact, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has been on a bit of an Android Lollipop outbreak in the last couple of weeks. For instance, back on March 12th AT&T released their update for the Samsung tablet, This was duly followed a couple of days ago by T-Mobile also announcing the roll out of their update. Well, not one to miss out on the update party, the latest Galaxy Tab 10.5 update announcement is coming from Verizon.
That said, it is not actually Verizon who is announcing the update. Instead, the news comes from Samsung’s own update support pages and does indicate that the Verizon update is now ready to go. As such it is presumed the update should begin rolling out OTA today or tomorrow. In terms of the details, well, very little is known about the Verizon update as Samsung have not listed any changelog information. In fact, all the Samsung update page does detail is that the update comes with software number T807VVRU1BOD2 and that the update will bring the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 up to Android 5.0.2. As such, if you own a Tab S 10.5 on Verizon, then you should keep an eye out over the next few hours for your update to arrive.
