If you own a smartphone and it is either ZenFone 4, or Zenfone 5 or a ZenFone 6, you were probably expecting to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in mid-May, according to what the company had previously announced. Now a confirmed piece of news has it that you should wait a bit more than what you expected. What is meant by confirmed here is that the company confirmed the news through its official ZenTalk forum. The reason for this update delay is issues in verification:
“Asus was scheduled to provide ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, ZenFone 6, and PadFone S with Android L upgrade in the mid of May. However, Asus team has found some issues during verification. We decided to delay the Android L upgrade schedule in order to provide better user experience. We are currently working on the related issues and will release the upgrade as soon as possible.”
So if you happen to have an Asus PadFone S you are also among those who should work their patience. This device was scheduled to get the Android 5.0 update in mid-May too. Though taking this announcement into account, it doesn’t look like a 6-month delay.
That is not all. The new Padfone Infinity A86 owners will also experience a delayed upgrade but not because of the verification issues. This time it’s the processor. The limitation in the processor is postponing the Lollipop update, but the company promised that there will be software upgrade based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Actually the LTE-variant of the ZenFone 5 has already received the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade which had a size of around 820MB. It upgraded Kindle, Asus Webstorage, and Super Note apps. To the 1GB RAM variant it brought along the new lockscreen which removed standalone wallpaper and weather details. Also, the 1BG RAM variant received different quick settings/recent app layouts. The upgrade also brought along other things like revamped Dialer and Contacts; removal of in-call animation and cover; addition of My Ocean wallpaper, Day Scene Live Wallpaper, TripAdvisor, Asus Auto-start Service Manager app, auto-start service manager, as well as improved VOIP phone call function and music function.
So probably this is what would happen to your ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, ZenFone 6, and PadFone S when the problems are removed and the update released.
