Yesterday in a Taiwanese magazine there was a listing for a device called the Samsung Galaxy Tab E. As most of you are probably already aware, Samsung does not currently offer any sort of Galaxy Tab E device. When you put two and two together you can see that this listing was obviously a little premature. This could potentially spell bad news for the company behind this magazine, but it is good news for us technology fans.
Now, another leak pertaining to the mysterious Samsung Galaxy Tab E has broken out. This leak includes many of what appear to be press shots of the device and even more information about it than was known before. Here is all of the collective information about the device that is currently known; its name will actually be the Galaxy Tab E 9.6, it will feature a 1280 x 800 9.6-inch display, Spreadtrum SoC with a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 5MP rear-facing camera, 3MP front-facing camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. Also known about the device is that it will run Android 4.4 out-of-the-box and that there will be two different models.
Both models of the device are supposed to be light on consumers wallets, these are budget devices. The SM-T560 model is a Wi-Fi only model that will cost only $203. Then there is the slightly more expensive SM-T561 model, which has 3G connectivity and will cost $226. These devices are supposedly going to be released in the near future and will initially be launched in Eastern Europe as well as Asia.
With the Galaxy Tab E 9.6 not yet being official, there is no word on whether or not we can expect to see it sold in the U.S. at some point. Needless to say, it’s always great to see companies such as Samsung creating budget smartphones and tablets while still retaining decent specs. Hopefully, we end up seeing this device on store shelves in the U.S. at some point, but even if we don’t the device will still sell well in Europe and Asia.
