Google announced a brand new virtual reality camera rig, called Jump, during this year’s Google I/O back in May. In collaboration with GoPro, Google will make VR video capturing a simple and seamless experience. With the main goal of creating a complete ecosystem to kickstart the adoption rate of VR services and helping video producers create memorable movies, the Jump camera rig will make virtual reality a whole more accessible for everyone. Since the Google I/O conference, not much has been heard about the Jump virtual reality rig, luckily, Google recently announced a sign-up webpage, where video creators can enlist to try the Jump program out first. The internet giant is looking for great producers, so before being able to sign-up, a small form has to be filled; this is for Google to know a bit about your background and your goals with the Jump VR rig.
Google made public its intentions to provide for “select creators” the possibility to use the Jump virtual reality rig over the coming weeks (the testing phase begins this summer, although an exact date is still unknown). In the sign-up form for the Jump program, video producers are asked to fill-in two pages of only basic biographical information and a brief explanation of the intentions you might have when you get your own Jump VR rig.
If you are an adventurous video producer and want to actually try out the upcoming Jump virtual reality camera rig, the essay part of the sign-up form must be (as stated by Google), “awesome”. The more awesome your answers are, the more chances that Google will choose you to join the testing phase of Jump. Before filing your form, it is probably worthwhile completely planning out what your intentions are with Jump. The more details you provide then the more chance you have of being picked.
