News of Bethesda’s upcoming game in their popular post-apocalyptic franchise, Fallout 4, was announced back at the beginning of E3 in June. Bethesda didn’t just officially announce the next major game in the Fallout series though, they also released a mobile game called Fallout Shelter in which you’ll be tasked with managing a few people inside an underground shelter which you can build up to epic proportions. Your job as the Vault-Tec Overseer in this game is to build up a community of people underground in the case of a nuclear bomb drop. You’ll start with a small number of citizens but that can quickly grow, as can the amount of rooms and different parts of your shelter.
If you’ve been a fan of the Fallout series of games but are an Android user you’ve been left out for the time being as there is currently no Android version available. The only detail about the game that was discussed up until recently was that Android users would be getting the game at some point in the future, however, it wasn’t stated when. There is still no hard date, but thanks to a tweet from one of Bethesda’s employees it looks like the team is shooting for an August launch, as Bethesda’s Pete Hines mentions that “the Android version is coming along nice, and should be out next month.”
This at least gives Android gamers a tentative window of when to expect the launch, although Hines also mentions there is still no exact date. With that in mind it is still entirely possible that it could launch later than August, but for now next month is a likely possibility. Fallout Shelter was already the most downloaded game in 48 different countries and the most downloaded app of any category in 25 countries within a week of it’s launch, and that’s only for iOS where it is currently available. Just imagine the kind of download numbers it will receive once it hits Android. The game will be free when it releases, and like the iOS version it will have optional in-app purchases you can pick up.
