It seems that regulatory groups are as much a part of phone leaking as actual leakers, especially with the level of detail that sometimes is released in the device’s documentation.  Today, TENAA let another device through that is apparently going to be called the HTC Desire 828w, and it seems like a rather good phone to fill the ever-growing mid-tier smorgasbord in China.

So, as per usual, we don’t know any specific part names, just their performance and on-paper specifications.  First, this phone looks to have 16 gigabytes of internal storage, as well as a 128 gigabyte-friendly MicroSD card slot for expandability.  It’ll be packing 2 gigabytes of RAM to smooth out Android 5.1 Lollipop running inside, as well as a 1.5 Ghz octa-core, which will likely be a mid-range bit of silicon, with the likely suspects being Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615, or MediaTek’s 6595, though the latter is only a 32-bit processor and from early last fall.

The 828w looks to bring the big-screen game with a 5.5-inch 1080p panel, as well as a 13-and-5 back-front camera arrangement, so photographers and selfie fans will be sated.  And for the set of colors that HTC will apparently offer the 828w in, TENAA has it listed that the phone will be offered in white, black, red, orange, blue, gray, and gold, so no shortage of color options will accompany this device’s arrival.  This latest Desire device will only weigh in at 150 grams, and will only be 7.9 millimeters thick, so it’s going to be packing a lot into a relatively slim package for pockets and purses alike.  PhoneArena also reports that the device will be offered in both single- and dual-SIM configurations.  By the look of the pictures TENAA has of the device, the phone has a symmetrical grille on the top and bottom edges of the device, so that could either be purely aesthetic, or it could be that the device will feature dual front-facing speakers, which would make the 828w an even better-sounding device for customers looking to upgrade.  The Desire 828w was passed through TENAA and approved on July 28th, so we will likely see a release in either August or September.
