Samsung really improved the design of their flagship devices this year, the Galaxy S6 lineup and the Galaxy Note 5 feature a design based on a frame made out of metal bridging the glass on the front and back. Plus, they integrate high-resolution displays made with AMOLED technology, providing sharp pictures with saturated and vibrant colors. Their internals are also among the best ones, as they include powerful processors and very capable cameras. Some sacrifices had to be made in order to achieve that design, for the first time, the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series lack a Micro SD card slot to expand their memory and a removable battery.
This makes us wonder if these two features will make a comeback on future generations, but for now, there are only a few rumors regarding the so-called Galaxy S7. It has been rumored that two variants of the phone will be made, just like in the current generation, one will feature a flat screen and another one will have a curved display. Samsung will probably use a stronger material for the frame of the handsets or perhaps they will go for a unibody design made entirely of metal. It is still unknown what kind of processor they will use, as there have been developments of a new Exynos processor, but the company seems to be testing this handset with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820.
Regarding the launch date, previous Galaxy S series have been unveiled at the MWC around the month of march, but a new report suggests that they could announce it a little earlier in January 2016 and it will apparently be available in February 2016. The report comes from someone at SK Securities, which is owned by the same conglomerate who owns SK Telecom, one of the largest carriers in that region. There have been rumors that Samsung is working hard to release this phone as soon as possible with a more “Agile” approach, so the phone could be ready as early as December and then have some time to test it before it is officially announced. It wouldn’t be the first time that Samsung rushes the introduction of one of their devices, as the Galaxy Note 5 was announced one month before they traditionally announced its predecessors.
