When it comes to Google, nothing is as it seems or straightforward. The company has always been known for its innovation and more often than not, surprises many with its latest invention, direction or project. You only have to look at the likes of Project Loon or Project Ara to get a taste of what Google has been working on of late. Well, more recently, the company surprised everyone by announcing the launch of a new super company dubbed Alphabet. This is essential a parent company which now governs Google as well as all the other Google-related services and companies.
Well, in the next part of the company’s shake up, Google has today announced the launch of their new logo. According to the accompanying Google blog, the reason for updating the logo was in respect of how much the company has changed over the last 17 years. What was initially a service set up to be desktop accessible, is one which has evolved to become accessible by all kinds of devices, screens and perspectives.. With that in mind, the new logo is designed to reflect this evolution. A logo which will be view-able in the same manner and “even on the tiniest screens.” Not to mention, the logo is designed to be more informative for the service that you are using at the time of viewing the logo. Google does note that this is not the first time they have changed their logo and is unlikely to be the last time. Although, the current logo is what the company believe best reflects the Google of today with a “simple, uncluttered, colorful, friendly” look. Not to mention, those eagle eyed readers will note that the typeface sports an uncanny resemblance to the one used for Alphabet.
