Video: HTC Vive Hands-On Impressions

At IFA 2015 in Berlin we got a full hands on demonstration of the HTC Vive, a brand new VR headset that’s the brainchild of the minds at Valve and HTC.  If you’re not up to speed on just who Valve is, think games like Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead and DOTA 2 to name a few classics, not to mention the incredible Steam PC gaming service that’s been around for years.  Take these years of gaming and systems-building expertise and pair it with the hardware production and design excellent at HTC and you’ll find the absolutely amazing HTC Vive.

Now this isn’t the first time we’ve gotten our hands on the Vive, but there were a few different demos here worth talking about, plus given that VR is a very personal experience it’s always good to hear other sides of the story.  Needless to say it was a surreal experience, one that has trounced every other VR demo I’ve tried out there including the latest Oculus Rift demos.  While the final Oculus Rift hardware looks to be much closer to the Vive experience, for now this remains the king of VR once it finally hits store shelves.  Check out the video below for my full impressions, and while HTC wouldn’t let me film the actual demos being played you may just be lucky enough to get your own hands on the Vive if the bus makes its way to a location near you.
