Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge owners on AT&T should start to see an update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop appear on their devices. AT&T is sending the update out a month and a half after international models of the Galaxy Note 4 received the new improvements. The update isn’t small in size or effect. Samsung Galaxy users will need to download almost 700 MB worth of files before installing the update, but there are significant enhancements available. Those already using an updated device are reporting a generally speedier OS. Animations seem to be quicker to execute and smoother while in progress.

The phone’s camera receives a helpful boost in performance, as does the ability to switch through apps. AT&T has not provided release notes in addition to the update, meaning there is uncertainty concerning what the entire package is, but all signs point to the advancements being more or less the same as what was given to the international variants. If that is the case, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge may still be susceptible to attacks that take advantage of the Stagefright security vulnerability. The flaw in Android code allows hackers to send MMS messages to a device and directly infect it with malware. The hackers then have full access to the device, often times without the owner knowing a message was sent at all. Samsung was able to send out a patch soon after Stagefright was discovered, but carriers have been slowing the process, as they tend to do with Android. The nation’s second largest carrier hasn’t specified whether the 5.1.1 Lollipop update for these devices has included the patch.

The update is available over-the-air for all Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge owners. If you haven’t seen an automatic notice from your phone prompting you to update, Android has a built-in tool you can use to look for it. In the Settings app, you’ll find an option to search for firmware upgrades in the software updates section, which should then present the available 5.1.1 Lollipop enhancements. Samsung KIES hasn’t made the new version available yet, but it shouldn’t take long for that to be an option as well.
