It might only be Monday but for the Android world, it has already been a busy day already. This is thanks to Google keeping with their time-frame of beginning the release of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). As a result, today has already seen a number of announcements coming through already. The first came this morning when Google made available the factory images allowing for anyone with a Nexus device to sideload the Marshmallow update themselves to their devices. This was soon afterwards followed by the news that the OTA updates for a selection of Nexus devices was also due to begin today. Not to mention, T-Mobile chimed in not long after as well and confirming that they would begin rolling out Android 6.0 to their Nexus 6’s at some point in the week. Although, exact timing was not provided.

Well, as you would expect with factory images going live and OTAs about to commence, it seems Google are now in the process of uploading the code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). This will be extremely handy for those developers who either just want to check out what lies beneath Marshmallow or who would like to start work on their various apps, features, ROMs or ports.

The full code has not gone live yet and likely won’t for quite awhile due to the size of the update that Marshmallow represents. However, if your are interested, then you should keep an eye on the AOSP pages. For those who will be checking the code upload, this is the first official final build of Marshmallow and comes with the build number MRA58K. It is worth keeping in mind, that if you do currently own either a Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9 or the Nexus Player, then you can download your update now or just hold tight for the OTA to roll though at some point over the next couple of days. By then the code will be uploaded, full changelogs revealed and more information known. Either way, with code being pushed to the AOSP, the journey of all the customization of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) can now fully begin.
