Twitter has served many a purpose, but for the Android-teasing and -leaking communities, it serves as a quick way to disseminate the news quickly with the ability to easily reshare. OEMs rarely leak their device save for touting a single feature at a time approaching launch, but U.S. carriers can sometimes go a little crazy. Seems like America’s Big Red, Verizon Wireless, is gunning for the leakiest pre-launch environment for the upcoming Droid Turbo 2.
Earlier today, we covered a rather nice shot of the front and back panels of the technically still-rumoured device, as well a spec sheet with some highlights a while back as well. The big feature for today’s leak? The Droid Turbo’s apparently shatterproof display which was first spotted on a leaked Verizon document last week. What we know already is that the phone, as well as the Droid MAXX 2 will feature Snapdragon 810 octa-core processors clocked at 2 GHz, along with 3 gigabytes of RAM. Motorola has also reportedly enabled Quick Charge for the devices as well, and they feature a still-impressive 21-and-5 back-front camera pairing. The Droid Turbo 2 will reportedly sport a 32 gigabyte internal storage option, with a higher-capacity 64 gigabyte option for those that love to carry a music or movie library around with them. The display, however is something we know less about.
Verizon’s latest leak showcases a reverse-slow-motion snowglobe fall and shatter, then the new Droid is tossed up along with some text. The text accompanying the video reads “Soon you’ll worry more about snowfalls than phone falls”, which is possibly a bad sign for moisture resistance, if you really read into it. What can be gathered is small, except that the display has some absolutely killer impact-resistance especially since it’s being touted, at least in the leaks thus far, is the fact that it’s ‘shatterproof’. We will have to wait to see whether the Droid Turbo 2’s ‘shatterproof’ display can stand up to last year’s tough option from Kyocera with the company’s Brigadier, whose display incorporated sapphire crystal to bulk it up some. The official launch of the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid MAXX 2 is expected to happen on October 27, but more leaks may crop up this pre-launch weekend.
