Samsung today launched their latest product: The second generation of the Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit. The package offers a complete smart home product range to keep your home safe and easy to manage. Samsung promises the Home Monitoring Kit is everything you need to help transform your home into a connected environment where the user has a more complete control over daily occurrences. From monitoring and providing a way to stay secure, Samsung’s smart home kit has the ability to assist its customers in a remarkably manageable way. The smartphone maker emphasizes the Home Monitoring Kit’s security solution. Comfortably cheaper than mainstream home security programs, the Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit will alert you in case of a break-in or any otherwise unanticipated movement in your home.
Controls for everything included in the Kit are found in the free SmartThings app, which is available in both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. From the app, your responsive Home Monitoring Kit can be set up. Inside the Samsung SmartThings Kit is a SmartThings Hub, two multipurpose sensors, a motion sensor, and an outlet. The SmartThings Hub is used to connect other products you may have, such as lights or cameras. The two multipurpose sensors are used to detect whether or not doors, windows, or even cabinets are opened, and the included outlet is used to control small electronics you may have, like lights or appliances. The SmartThings app on your smartphone can control all these devices and offers critical information at a glance, such as possible security threats.
Samsung’s push to make the smart home a simple and affordable reality comes at the emergence of the Internet of Things movement. This second generation product demonstrates the company’s determination to lead in this next technological stage. Competition is sure to start ramping up as well, meaning more choice and better products for future customers.
Online retailers will be selling the new kit, including Sears, Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung itself. Best Buy will have a stock of Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring Kits available for purchase in-store as well, with Sears stores planning to carry the Kit soon. SmartThings.com will also sell the Kit in the near future. Samsung’s solution for a simple smart home comes in at $249. While, the Samsung SmartCam HD Pro will soon be released as well, offering access to video of unexpected events.
