When it comes to Google’s various apps and services, none are more infamous than Google+. This is Google’s main stab at creating a social focused service and one which has routinely seen reports coming through of how the social media service is one which is in trouble. That said, it is an app which continues to see upgrades, updates and new features being added.

The most recent of which is said to be rolling out today. In fact, Google has announced quite a big overhaul to Google+ and one which seems designed to place a greater focus on its Collections and Communities features. The reason behind this emphasis of Collections and Communities, is that Google states when listening to Google+ users, these are the two features they keep continually hearing about. As a result, Google+ has been redesigned to put these two features at the forefront.

In redesigning how Google+ will look, Google notes that the new format is much simpler and one which will be far more kinder to mobile users of the platform. Although, the update will take place across all platforms including Android, iOS and desktop. The new layout is one which is designed to offer a much more universally look regardless of which or how many platforms you are accessing Google+ from. According to the details, the new layout is firstly rolling out across the web based version of Google+ and it will be coming to Android and iOS in the next few days. However, you can now jump over to the desktop version and give the new layout a try now. Although, you do have to currently opt in to test out the new look. If you are interested in checking out the new layout and opting in, then you will need to head over to Google+ via the web and click on “Let’s Go” when prompted. Apparently, not all features have been ported over to the new look and design yet, so if at anytime you would rather return to what is now the ‘old style’, you can do so by clicking back on “Classic” (located in the bottom left hand corner of the screen).
