Back towards the end of September, LG announced a 2nd Edition version of their popular LG Watch Urbane smartwatch. While the 2nd Edition did come with some bumps in the specs, the main difference was this is a standalone smartwatch that does not require any connection to a smartphone to function. At the time there were few details on when the 2nd Edition would become available, with the announcement simply detailed ‘later in the year’.
Well, it now looks like LG are ready to begin selling the 2nd Edition as they have today announced that the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will begin going on sale this month. The announcement details that availability of the 2nd Edition will begin in the United States and South Korea first. This will then be followed by availability opening in other “key markets” in Europe, Asia in the following months. In terms of the U.S., the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will be initially available through AT&T and Verizon. AT&T have already opened up their pre-orders and will begin selling in-store from November 13th, while Verizon will open up their pre-orders starting from tomorrow and will be available in-stores from November 19th. In terms of the price, Verizon has confirmed that the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will be available for $449 on a two-year contract or $499 outright and can be added to an existing data plan for an additional $5 per month. According to already reported details, through AT&T, the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will be available for $199.99 on a two-year contract.
If you need a reminder of the specs on offer, the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition comes equipped with a 1.38-inch P-OLED display and making use of a 480 x 480 resolution. Inside, the 2nd Edition LG Watch Urbane comes equipped with 768 MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (clocking at 1.2 GHz). Additional features on offer with the revised LG Watch Urbane include a 570 mAh capacity battery and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. Not forgetting of course, the 2nd Edition does make use of its cellular connectivity for both 3G and 4G networks. While the device can also connect through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when needed as well.
