As we prepare to close the doors on 2015, the bright lights of 2016 peak through our mental windows teasing us about what’s to come. Advancements in technology is one thing, but The Internet of Things , otherwise known as IOT, is another. As more and more devices become connected to the internet, the extension of “things” grows. With this happening, companies are beginning to take part in the shift and have created new technologies to accompany The Internet of Things. Brillo and Weave are just a few that Google has put together themselves, first announced back during Google IO 2015 at the end of May. With these new ideas popping up, it would only be right to gather developers together and focus around such topics.
Also earlier this year at Google I/O, Google announced that it will host a developer summit called “Ubiquity.” At this event, developers will get a chance to sit down and throw around ideas while asking questions. Topics of discussion will include Brillo, Weave, Android Wear, Google Cast, Android TV, and Android Auto. All of these products are just the beginning of what everyone has been questioning in regards to IoT. Google has released information regarding the event which will take place at the Strand Theater. The information includes the list of speakers which consist of Google engineers and developers. Since this isn’t a large event like Google I/O, developers have expressed their liking of these smaller conferences. Smaller events allow developers to communicate directly with Google Experts and get those concerning questions answered.
Google’s Ubiquity Summit will be held January 11-12th in San Francisco, and online registration is currently open so you can sign up now. Doors open at 7:30 where you can also register and grab breakfast. The schedule is pretty lengthy starting with a Keynote at 10AM and ending at 10PM, with the After Hours in the lobby where you can try CloudSpin. Day two is just a tad shorter, ending at 5pm with the discussion of beacons. If you are unable to attend, there is no need to worry. Google plans on live streaming the event so you can watch and listen from the comforts of your own home. Registration is free and anyone can join this event full of information.
