In spite of Google’s latest I/O event being announced and talk of the next generation of the Android operating system, Android N, already circulating, many (take this to mean, all minus a few) Android devices are still waiting on their update to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Of course, if you are someone who is not so keen on waiting for your carrier/manufacturer to push out the update to your particular device, there are always ways and means to get some form of Marshmallow running on your device. That is, if support has been lent to your device.
Of course, too many, the most obvious way to get the latest version of Android on their devices is to simply install CyanogenMod. For a while now this has been the go-to alternate ROM for those looking for the latest features Android has to offer. As a result of the continued demand, the variety of devices gaining support for CyanogenMod continually keeps growing. And you may just be supposed at what devices can currently be supported.
Although, unlikely to be in the hands of too many Android users, if you are the owner of the Nook tablet which was introduced by Barnes & Noble then you might be interested to know that you too can now download and flash Marshmallow (by way of CyanogenMod) onto your Nook. The CyanogenMod team have now made a CM13 nightly available for the Nook tablet, which highlights their commitment to keep supporting devices that are unlikely to be receiving support directly from their sources. According to the nightly list for the Nook Tablet, this does appear to be the first nightly to come through (dated Jan 15th) and if you are planning on giving this a try, it is worth keeping in mind that a nightly is by design, an early release version. So it is always wise to expect certain issues. Not to mention, a nightly does self-imply that you will have to be updating on a fairly routine (almost nightly) basis. That all said, if you own a Nook and looking to run Marshmallow via CyanogenMod, then head through the source link.
