As a device user, you probably know how important Cloud storage is. And to be honest, it’s something that many people should start using (if they aren’t already). Cloud storage is easily one of the best things that has happened to consumers because it gives them freedom to save their files. So when Copy and CudaDrive announced that they will be discontinuing their services, you can just imagine the disappointment felt by its users; especially those who practically use these two services on a daily basis. But unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye to Copy and CudaDrive.

Earlier today, the company announced that they will be discontinuing services for both Copy and CudaDrive. Along with their announcement, they gave information that these services will no longer be available starting May 1, 2016. It’s quite surprising to know that a company as big as Copy could decide to suddenly close. Throughout the 4+ years that they were in service, the company has been able to obtain around 500,000 to a million users who have religiously used the service on a daily basis. But as mentioned on the blog post of the VP & GM of Storage Business Rod Matthews, the business focus of the company has shifted. And along with this, they have made a difficult decision of discontinuing both services. To facilitate a smooth and easy migration of data to another service, the company has partnered with Mover to go about with this business. They have also prepared a step-by-step guide on how users can move data from a local hard drive to a new cloud storage option. Paid subscribers under either service however are advised to keep a close watch on their email for a more detailed information on what their options are.

If you are currently using Copy to store your files, it may be time for you to look for alternatives and not wait until May 2nd to take care of this. Otherwise, you might discover that the app no longer works and you won’t have access to all your files. It is interesting to note that while Copy and CudaDrive’s users are somewhere close to a million, it still isn’t enough to compete against the 50,000,000 downloads that its competitor, OneDrive, has obtained. So if you want something more stable, this could be a possible option.
