Google Keep List & Reminder Settings are now in One Location

Google Keep has been around for a few years now. Originally being part of Google Drive (at drive.google.com/keep then getting its own address at keep.google.com). It’s Google’s own notes and to-do list and note-taking service. It’s pretty barebones, for many people, it’s perfect however. You can create lists, reminders, and take notes in Google Keep, which will then sync across your devices. That includes Android and iOS apps as well. With Lists and Reminders, you could edit the settings individually for each note. A bit of an annoying thing, especially if you are changing the settings on each reminder to be the same. It appears that is changing, as Google has moved those settings to a more centralized spot.

On the web, at least, you can go into settings (which is located under the overflow menu on the left side of the screen) and choose your default reminder times. Which default to 8am 1pm and 6pm, the same times as Inbox by Gmail’s reminders default too. You can adjust these to be whatever time you want. Additionally, you can still adjust them on a per-reminder basis. Making it more intuitive and easier for those that use Google Keep quite often. These settings will affect lists and reminders on both Keep’s website and their mobile apps. It’s not a huge change, but still a useful change.

Currently, we are seeing a blue box appear on Keep’s website when you login which explains this change. However it hasn’t yet made its way over to the mobile apps. We will likely see an update to the Google Keep app pretty soon though, as Google does typically update their apps (in groups) on Wednesday or Thursday. As soon as the update is available, we’ll be sure to pass it along so everyone else can update their app and take advantage of these new settings.

Google Keep has steadily been getting more updates over the years, since it debuted, to make it better and better. It’s come a long way, but many would argue that it still has quite a ways to go. When there are other services like Evernote for note-taking and Todoist for to-do lists.
