Android 6.0 Marshmallow is slowly but surely making its way to more and more handsets, and one of the latest to be introduced to the newest version of Android software is the 3rd generation Moto G European model. As of today, users have begun seeing the over-the-air update come through to their phones which brings in notable under the hood features like Doze Mode for battery longevity, more granular permissions control and a handful of other useful changes. Users in Europe with the Moto 2015 should also expect bug fixes and improvements to optimize the overall performance and user experience of the device in addition to the new changes and functions that accompany the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software release.
While the European model of the Moto G 2015 is just starting to see Marshmallow on devices, models of the phone in India started getting the update as of late December, while U.S. models of the same phone were receiving the update before Christmas and more towards early December. Why it took a little bit longer for the same software update to reach users in Europe is unclear, but with the update starting to roll out now it shouldn’t be too long before the majority of users in that region have been pushed forward.
Other changes besides the new permissions tweaks and Doze Mode include the updated app drawer, and the system UI tuner. Android 6.0 Marshmallow also includes support for fingerprint authentication for mobile payments, but that isn’t something the Moto 3rd Gen will be able to take advantage of seeing as how it doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor built into the device in the first place. Although the details about the update for the European model don’t mention the size of the update package for the software, it shouldn’t be too much different from other regional variants as the software version change is the same. It’s worth mentioning that not all users in Europe who have the Moto G 2015 will be getting the update today, but it is likely that they may end up seeing it sometime throughout the week. If it hasn’t shown up yet you can always check for the software update manually by navigating to settings, then about phone, and tapping software updates.
