Google Drive is of course, somewhere where you can store your numerous files, images and otherwise online. All without having to worry about your local storage limits (although you do have to take into consideration your Drive storage limits) or accessing files from one particular device. Simply upload a file to Drive and you can pretty much access it from anywhere and from any device that has an internet connection.
Of course, one of the other big benefits of Drive is that these access points are not only for you. As easily as users can access files and content using Drive, users can permit others to access, view and even edit the same files. Simply sharing files with any other Google account user means that collaborative work can be completed much quicker and easier and all without having to manually send people files, wait for them to add their contribution and return the edited files again. In fact, back in November, Google improved the file sharing experience by announcing they were introducing notifications for file sharing on smartphones. This meant that you would get a notification when either someone requested access to a file or shared a file with you. The added benefit being that you could grant permission or access the newly shared file all from the notification. Bypassing the compulsory email you would receive or directly heading to Drive altogether.
As an extension of that feature, Google has today announced that they have now extended the notification feature to Chrome on the web. As such, now when someone shares a link with you or asks for permission to access a file, as well as the ability to receive the notification and act accordingly from your smartphone, you can do so from your web version of Chrome. As you can see in the image, a notification will appear in the top right corner advising of the request and you can once again, complete the action while still remaining in Chrome. The one downside though is that the feature only works when using Chrome, so if it is not open or connected, you evidently will not receive the notifications. Likewise, if you would prefer to choose which devices receive notifications (so all your devices are not beeping when a notification comes through) you can. Google does note that this is an opt-in feature so you do have to turn it on to start using the feature. Speaking of which, you should start to see a prompt advising of the feature and asking whether you would like to turn it on the next time you head over to Google Drive.
