After rolling out Android Marshmallow to the Galaxy Note 5 earlier this month, T-Mobile started doing the same for the LG V10 last week. Now, if a post by a senior BlackBerry executive is anything to go by, it could very well be the turn of the BlackBerry Priv on T-Mobile to receive the Marshmallow treatment, as the beta version of the software is reportedly about to roll out to T-Mobile customers shortly. It bears mentioning here that BlackBerry is already rolling out Android Marshmallow beta to volunteers who had willingly signed up for its beta program, but only those who had bought the device from ShopBlackBerry were qualified to have signed up in the first place.

According to the aforementioned tweet by the manager of BlackBerry’s beta program team, Mr. Nathan Webster, T-Mobile subscribers who had signed-up for the beta test program will be getting their invites within the next 24-hours. Meanwhile, beta-test volunteers who bought the device from BlackBerry’s own web store are slated to receive a new build of the Marshmallow-based ROM fairly soon. The latest update is apparently a pretty massive one, as reports indicate it is over 1.7 GB in size. Meanwhile, most mainstream users who need their smartphones for productivity purposes and were hence unable or unwilling to sign up to be a beta tester, would be hoping that BlackBerry will be able to complete its beta program successfully and will soon roll out the final, stable version of the software globally.

BlackBerry Priv happens to be the first-ever Android smartphone from the Canadian vendor formerly known as Research in Motion. Earlier this month, the BlackBerry CEO, Mr. John Chen, hinted that the company was working on updating the Priv to Android Marshmallow, but refused to divulge any further details. Meanwhile, it was the company’s director of Handheld Software Product Management, Mr. Michael Clewley, who let the cat out of the bag earlier this month when he tweeted about Marshmallow for the Priv being in the works. Since then, videos have been uploaded online purporting to show Android 6.0.1 running on the latest premium smartphone from BlackBerry, which was originally launched last year with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on-board.
