Cable TV was once king for content in the household, but with the rise of streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, Sling TV, PlayStation VUE and others, there is less and less of a reason to subscribe to a package from your local cable provider. If you’re a fan of television programming, in many cases you can get every single show that might air on primetime TV as well as other popular and less mainstream channels simply by subscribing to Hulu. If you value live TV, however, you might spring for something like Sling TV, which has both live and on-demand content. It’s now being reported, though, that Hulu may have a similar service that’s currently in development and is looking to launch a cable-like TV service.

There is no detail about what Hulu plans to call the service or what it may cost, but already existing subscriptions from other services are in the realm of at least $20 a month, making it a possible price point for the yet unreleased Hulu service. Having said that, the monthly cost is speculated to potentially be in the area of $40 a month. Rumored launch time frames peg the new Hulu subscription option for sometime in the first quarter of 2017, so whatever the price is that’s being thrown around currently has the potential to change between now and whenever the service launches.

Hulu is reportedly close to having multiple networks on board to license their channels for the service, and it’s expected that the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, FX, national and regional Fox Sports channels, ABC, ESPN, and the Disney Channel will all be available. Alongside offering live tv from licensed channels, there’s also the possibility for customers to have access to a DVR option that’s cloud-based, allowing them to record and save live shows to be watched later on. With no confirmations on the service’s existence, when it will launch, or what it may cost, those looking for live TV options outside of their local cable providers will have to stick with what’s already here, or opt for one or more of the many streaming options.
